William Chattaway (1927-2019) Karateka Circa 1973 Bronze with green-brown patina Bears the initials "C. PZ" and numbered "I/X Bears the founder's stamp "CIRE PERDUE A. VALSUANI H. 29 cm English-born William Chattaway trained in sculpture at the Coventry School of Fine Arts, then at the Slade School in London, before moving to Paris in 1950. Initially influenced by the work of Alberto Giacometti, Chattaway then turned to the cubist style, heightening lines and accentuating angles.
