Maurice Prost (1894-1967) Tetracere Gazelle Model created in 1932 Bronze with green-brown patina shaded with red Signed "M. PROST" on the terrace Bears the artist's stamp numbered "1". H. 45 cm x terrace 58 x 12.5 cm Maurice Prost trained as a chaser in the workshop of goldsmith Gauthier in Paris. Despite losing his left arm in the First World War, the young artist specialized in animal sculpture. He used plastiline to model the animals he observed at the Jardin des Plantes, where he met Georges-Lucien Guyot, Roger Go- dchaux and Armand Petersen. From 1922, he regularly exhibited his work at the Salon des Artistes français, the Salon d'Automne, the Salon des Artistes Indépendants and the Salon des Animaliers.
