Arthur-Marie-Gabriel Comte du Passage Frohen-le-Grand (1838-1909) Hunting mare strapped by a lad Bronze with brown patina Signed "A. du Passage" and dated "1829" on the front of the terrace H. 34.5 cm x terrace 71 x 30 cm Arthur Du Passage is an atypical sculptor. A career officer in the cavalry, he studied sculpture in the workshops of Barye and Mêne. A fall from his horse put an end to his military career. From then on, he devoted himself entirely to sculpture and, from 1865 onwards, exhibited numerous works at the Salon.
