Paul Belmondo (1898-1982) Bathers Relief in plaster Signed "Belmondo" lower right H. 31.9 x L. 21 cm Trained at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Algiers, a pupil of Boucher in 1921, and a close friend of Despiau, Paul Belmondo's sculptural work manifests an aesthetic all his own, earning him great success from the 1930s onwards. Known primarily as a portraitist, Paul Belmondo is a versatile artist. His interest in sculptural relief is particularly evident in his monumental decors.
