Jean LETOURNEUR (1954) - Lot 191
Jean LETOURNEUR (1954) The Mirror 1994-2021 Bronze proof Signed and numbered (bottom on base) : LETOURNEUR 1/8 Foundry stamp and date (bottom of base): FUSION 2021 100 x 50 x 50 cm This mirror is reminiscent of antique bronze mirrors. For his creation, Jean Letourneur drew inspiration from the studies carried out by ONERA at Dassault's request for the design of the Rafale: the mirror corresponds to the aircraft in motion, and the windings around it to the movement of the air. The transcription of this natural phenomenon, scientifically observed, gives rise to a singular work of art, driven by an upward movement. Its base counterbalances its upward momentum, anchoring it to the earth and its four cardinal points. Exhibition: 2022, Fontenay-aux-Roses, media library: Water between art and science. Bibliography: - 2018 LETOURNEUR, p. 140 (setting drawing). - 2018 CHANETZ, p. 48, fig. 1-2, repr. (marble and first 30 cm model). - 2019 CHANETZ, unpaginated, repr. (marble and first 30 cm model). - 2020 CHANETZ, p. 10, repr. (marble). - 2020 SCHEPS MAUREL, p. 78, repr. (marble).
