Jean LETOURNEUR (1954) Bust of Agnès 1985 Original plaster Engraved monogram (back, lower right) : JL 43 x 20 x 36 cm Inspired by the young girl he has posed, Jean Letourneur pays homage in this sculpture to the bust portraits of the Italian Renaissance, particularly those by Francesco Laurana. He adopts the rhetoric of these portraits, characterized by an often slightly turned head, a gentle, restrained expression on the face, and a horizontal cutout of the torso below the shoulders.
