Jean LETOURNEUR (1954) - Lot 174
Jean LETOURNEUR (1954) Eve 2010 Bronze proof, n°1/8 Coubertin lost-wax casting On the back of the terrace: LETOURNEUR 1/8 Cachet Coubertin 2010 60.5 x 20 x 17 cm Wooden base Ève, a large, solidly-positioned nude, animated by a liberating twist, is reminiscent of the Action enchaînée in Maillol's monument to Blanqui. Jean Letourneur wished to make visible the air movements that envelop Eve's upper body, as he did at the same time with Figure de proue (cat. no. 178). The artist had begun to explore this materialization of the invisible in his Discobole in 1994 (see 2020 LETOURNEUR, fig. 11, p. 5).
