René LETOURNEUR (1898-1990) - Lot 17
René LETOURNEUR (1898-1990) Anne as a baby 1936 Bronze proof with light-brown shaded patina Codina lost-wax casting (stamped left), made in the late 1960s Unsigned 18 x 15 x 13 cm Height of oak base: 10 cm René Letourneur portrays his daughter Anne, aged two. He made this portrait in direct cut from pink Milan marble. Aware of the aesthetic value of his sculpture, he molded it so that he could publish it in bronze. The transposition into bronze highlights the work done in marble on the contrasts between the round, polished surfaces and those carved with a chisel. Bibliography : 2009 EXHIBITION p. 195.
