René Collamarini (1904-1983) Portrait of a man Bronze with red-brown patina Signed "Collamarini" on the back of the neck Bears the founder's stamp "CIRE PERDUE A. VALSUANI H. 42 cm, on a grey marble base H. 22 cm René Collamarini took evening classes in drawing and modeling before joining Jean Boucher's studio at the École des Beaux-Arts. Parallel to his training, he worked as a practitioner in a workshop where he was introduced to direct carving. Between the wars, Collamarini applied himself to the relief technique. In particular, he created the bas-relief La Céramique et Le Verre for the façade of the Palais du Trocadéro at the 1937 Universal Exhibition. A photograph dated 1926 shows René Collamarini working on a bust in his studio. This bust is similar to our bronze portrait of a man: high forehead, clear, slightly furrowed eyebrows, fixed blind gaze.
