During this period, he met Robert Wlérick (1882-1944), of whom he was to become a faithful disciple. From 1927 to 1929, he studied at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Jules Coutan's studio. In 1932, he held his first exhibition at Galerie Paquereau, rue Guénégaud in Paris, and official recognition soon followed: his Buste de Mergier was purchased by the City of Paris. 1985 saw three major exhibitions: "Raymond-Martin à la Monnaie de Paris", "Raymond-Martin au Musée Despiau-Wlérick" in Mont-de-Marsan and "Raymond-Martin à Cachan".
