Raymond Martin (1910-1992) Kneeling woman, head resting in her right hand Graphite and wash on paper Signed lower right "RAYMOND MARTIN". 26.8 x 18.8 cm Born in Paris in 1910, Raymond Martin entered the École des arts appliqués in 1925, where his teacher Jules Jouant guided him towards sculpture. During this period, he met Robert Wlérick (1882-1944), of whom he was to become a faithful disciple. From 1927 to 1929, he studied at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Jules Coutan's studio. In 1932, he held his first exhibition at Galerie Paquereau, rue Guénégaud in Paris, and official recognition soon followed: his Buste de Mergier was purchased by the City of Paris. The year 1985 was marked by three major exhibitions: "Raymond-Martin à la Monnaie de Paris", "Raymond-Martin au Musée Despiau-Wlérick" in Mont-de-Marsan and "Raymond-Martin à Cachan".
