H. 58.7 x W. 115 cm, in a wooden frame H. 65 x W. 122 cm Provenance: former Vieillard collection A native of Normandy, Raymond Bigot developed a passion for woodcarving at an early age. He then studied drawing and decorative arts in Paris. His large body of animal sculptures and drawings bears witness to his close observation of different species, particularly birds, to which he attributes a lively, authentic personality. The transparency of his ink washes reveals his admiration for Japanese art.
