Dejean" and numbered "38" on the terrace H. 32 cm Provenance: former Jacques and Michèle Ginepro collection Self-taught, Louis Dejean achieved success at the turn of the century with terracotta statuettes of graceful young women, captured in their daily activities and dressed in the fashion of Paris at the time. He then turned to more academic subjects, and his style reinterpreted ancient Greco-Roman art according to the ideas advocated by the "Bande à Schnegg", a group of sculptors active in the first decade of the 20th century.
