ROUBAUD" on the back of the boat H. 29 x W. 43 x D. 15.5 cm A student of Pradier, François Félix Roubaud began exhibiting at the Salon in 1853. In addition to his many sculpted portraits in marble bust and plaster medallion, he exhibited allegorical groups or groups inspired by Greek mythology, such as a statuette of Eurydice in 1857. Our group depicting Mercury crossing the river Styx on the boat of the ferryman Caron is a bronze proof based on the original marble entitled La barque de Caron (Caron's boat), exhibited at the 1877 Salon. The Musée de Brou in Bourg-en-Bresse conserves a plaster cast. Related work : -François-Félix Roubaud, La barque de Caron, before 1876, plaster, signed "F.F.
