Episcopal crozier in silver 1st title 950‰, polychrome gilding. In three parts that screw together, the shaft composed of two parts decorated with rhombus and palmettes friezes on a wooden core, the socket chased with acanthus leaves, the baluster-shaped node with applique and chased decoration of palms, laurels and rosettes. The crosseron is chased at the base with acanthus leaves and water leaves, and extended by a stock of ferns au naturel. Paris 1819-1838, head of an old man. Workshop hallmark of François Isaac Bertrand dit Bertrand-Paraud (circa 1787-1832). Hallmarked at the base of the socket and on the stems. In its leather-wrapped wooden case, lined with ochre suede cloth and fitted with two compartments (wear). Slight dents on the shaft and mounting. H. 216 cm Gross weight 3600 g François Isaac Bertrand dit Bertrand-Paraud, born circa 1787, registered in 1817 in the guarantee archives for the specialty "Orfèvrerie d'église", married Marie Émilie Paraud in 1812, daughter of goldsmith Pierre Paraud, registered for the same specialty. He took over his father-in-law's business and associated his name with hers, with a very similar difference: a buire for Pierre Paraud, a burette for him. He developed this specialty and passed it on to his son Hyppolite François Bertrand. He died on April 19, 1832. Several models of this crosier are known, and Napoleon 1er is said to have ordered twelve from the silversmith Jean-Charles Cahier for each of the concordat bishops. A very similar model can be seen on the painting of the coronation of Napoleon 1st, by the painter Jacques-Louis David, in the Louvre. A similar model can be seen on the painting of the baptism of Louis-Philippe d'Orléans comte de Paris in 1841, by Alexandre-François Caminade, in the Château d'Eu.
