Militaria, Revolution, Directory, Empire 1/ - Georges Joseph Dufour, Major General. - LAS to the Minister of War, 18 frimaire an IX (9 décembre 1800) informing him of the absence of cities under siege in the 11th military division. 1 sheet, torn in upper right corner and stained lower left corner. 2/ - Louis-Alexandre Berthier, Major General of the Grande Armée. - LS addressed to the commander of the Lichtemberg fortress, 24 frimaire an XIV (15 décembre 1805). 1 folded sheet. A few days after the battle of Austerlitz (December 2, 1805), Berthier requests the recall of troops still garrisoned in places in Upper and Lower Austria. The letter bears General Marulaz's frank. 3/ - Louis-Alexandre Bethier, Minister of War. - LS to citoyen Bernard informing him of his appointment to a vacant lieutenant's post in the 12 ½ brigade de ligne, 15 véndémiaire an X, (October 7, 1801). 2 folded ff. 4/ - Michel Mathieu Lecointe-Puyraveau. - LAS to the administrators of the Deux-Sèvres département, 2 prairial an V (May 21, 1797), 2 ff. While president of the Conseil de Cinq-Cents, Lecointe-Puyraveau explains to his fellow citizens of Deux-Sèvres that it will be very difficult for him to send subsidies to the département to repair, among other things, the disasters of the Vendée war. The document bears the seal of the Conseil des Cinq-Cents. 5/ - Laurent de Gouvion Saint-Cyr. - LS "Gouvion" addressed to the administrators of the commune of Saint-Rémy (Bouches du Rhone), 5 nivose an IV (December 26, 1795), 2 ff. Commander of the 8th military division of the Army of Italy then based in Toulon, Gouvion announces to the administrators of Saint-Rémy the arrival of government commissioner Fréron, who will give the Apt battalion the orders he deems appropriate. 6/ - Pierre-Jacques Osten. - Laissez-passer for Madame Vanderhout, February 18, 1806, 2 ff. Brigadier general in the Batavian army, Osten grants a laissez-passer for Madame Vanderhout to join her husband in Boulogne, where he commands a gunboat. 7/ - Jacques Léonard Muller. - LS announcing the opening of the competitive examination for admission to the Corps of Engineers June 29, 1793, 1 printed sheet. The examinations will be presided over by Citizen Bossut of the Académie des Sciences, who will question candidates on arithmetic, algebra, geometry, mechanics, dynamics, hydrodynamics, differential calculus and integral calculus. 8/ - Joseph Piston, Chief of Staff of the Army of the Alps. - LS aux officiers municipaux de la commune de Lanieu (aujourd'hui Lagnieu, dans l'Ain) 19 messidor an III (7 juillet 1795). 1 sheet, partly printed. General Piston informs the municipal council of Lagnieu that 70 men of the ninth company of the 4th artillery regiment will be quartered in Lagnieu, and that the town must provide lodging and food for the men and horses during the night of Messidor 21-22. On the reverse is a list of citizens who will be billeting the troops. 9/ - General Claude-Marie Lebley. - LS nomant le citoyen Pierre Bénard au grade de capitaine de la compagnie des grenadiers gardes côtes. 6 germinal an IV (26 mars 1796). 1 sheet folded in 8, tears. 10/ - Claude-Henri Belgrand, comte de Vaubois. - LAS certifying the good conduct of citoyen Laurent, as maréchal des logis de gendarmerie in the first division of the Armée des Alpes. 27 brumaire an IV (November 18, 1795) 1 small sheet folded in four. 11/ - Lazare Carnot. - LS inviting the mayor of Aix-en-Provence to transmit in future directly to the Minister of the Navy all enlistments contracted for the service of his department. The document bears Carnot's signature stamp. 28 prairial an VIII (June 17, 1800) 12/ - Ennemond Bonnard. - LAS on printed letterhead transmitting to the Minister of the Navy a letter from the civil officer of the Nevers classes. 3 germinal an IV (march 23, 1796). 1 sheet folded in two. "I know my duties and do not deviate from them It seems that he has the demengeaison to write without being certain of what he is advancing". 13/ - Louis Alexandre Berthier. - Printed circular supplementing the circular of 16 nivôse an XI concerning the tariff of deductions to be made from the pay of soldiers treated in hospitals. 28 messidor an XII (July 17, 1804), 2 ff folded in 8, addressed to the administrators of the hospice civil de Manosque. 14/- Louis de Fontanes. - LS to the mayor of the town of Saint-Servan, informing him of the receipt of the statement of expenses for the town's college. July 23, 1810. 2 leaves folded in 6, traces of stamp, postal marks. Fontanes was then Grand Master of the University. 15/ - François Christophe Kellermann, Duke of Valmy. - LS to General Baron Desbureaux, commander of the 5th military division in Strasbourg, concerning military equipment.
