Marcel DAMBOISE (1903-1992) - Lot 121
Marcel DAMBOISE (1903-1992) Medallion of Professor Pierre-Paul Grassé, 1978 Fired clay Signed (below the neck): Damboise Inscription (on the rim, top, in relief): PIERRE-PAUL GRASSE D. 26 cm Inv. MD-S-134-14 Provenance: Artist's studio, by descent Marcel Damboise probably met Professor Pierre-Paul Grassé (1895-1985) through his sculptor friends from the Académie, at an event at the Institut. Grassé, an eminent zoologist, has been an Academician since 1948. Marcel Damboise created a medallion and bust portrait of him: a bronze proof of the bust is probably in the scientist's family.
