Red morocco wallet, silver-plated brass lock, marked on the front in gold letters: "LE CHER LEMAIRE CHEN DENTISTE DU ROI" (le chevalier Lemaire chirurgien-dentiste du roi); green morocco interior, decorated with a small cylindrical writing case in green morocco; 27 x 37.5 cm. First Empire, Restoration period. Fairly good condition. Joseph, Jean-François LEMAIRE (March 8, 1782, Mayenne/February 22, 1834 (or 1854), Maisons-Alfort), dental surgeon. He studied medicine at the Paris School of Medicine, and devoted himself in particular to the art of dentistry, which he practiced at a very young age with great success in the capital. Appointed dentist to the King of Bavaria and knight of the Order of Saint-Hubert; under Louis XVIII, dental surgeon, consultant to the King and Louis-Philippe in 1830. He left works and treatises on teeth.
