Saber in the style of the Directoire and Consulate national award sabers, single-branch chased and gilded brass hilt decorated with oak leaves, hexagonal auricles adorned with a Medusa head, lion-head quillon, lion-head pommel, squared ebony spindle; curved damascus steel blade with geometric gilded decoration and oriental-style inscriptions; wooden scabbard with two large gilded and chased brass fittings, leather-covered crevices and splints, cut-out iron stinger; length 105.5 cm. (Branch, crosspiece and mounts are Directoire; blade Consulat, Premier-Empire; spindle, cap and scabbard XXth). Composite period. Good condition.
