Senior officer's saber of the national award type, silver-plated brass hilt with one branch decorated with foliage as well as the crosspiece, shuttle-shaped auricles chased with a flower set on two acanthus leaves, long-tailed cap terminating in a scroll, underside of crosspiece punched with a bar: "BOUTET" and marked: "Boutet Directeur Artiste" and "Manuf à Versailles" (quillon ressoudé); curved blade with light gold decoration; scabbard probably in iron, leather-covered, with three silvered brass fittings, decorated with cabochons and engraved with foliage around the edge, silvered brass stinger; length 102 cm. (Saber of 20th century manufacture, sold without warranty, as is, apocryphal signature, only the blade is of the First Empire or Restoration period). 19th and 20th eras. Good condition.
