Maurice Prost (1894-1967) Two tigers Circa 1930 Bronze with brown patina H. 32 cm, terrace 78.8 x D. 19 cm including black Belgian marble base Provenance: Maurice Prost workshop Maurice Prost trained as a chaser in the workshop of goldsmith Gauthier in Paris. Despite losing his left arm in the First World War, the young artist specialized in direct carving and animal sculpture. He used plastiline to model animals, particularly wildcats, that he observed at the Jardin des Plantes, where he met Georges-Lucien Guyot, Roger Godchaux and Armand Petersen. From 1922 onwards, he exhibited regularly at the Salon des Artistes français, the Salon d'Automne, the Salon des Artistes Indépendants and the Salon des Animaliers.
