Georges Lavroff (1895-1991) Reclining antelope Publisher Marcel Guillemard Bronze with medal patina Signed "G. LAVROFF Bears the publisher's stamp "MARCEL GUILLEMARD". Bears the number "28" on the left rear thigh. H. 24.3 cm, on a black Belgian marble base W. 39.5 x D. 10 cm A native of Siberia, George Lavroff studied medicine and attended drawing and painting classes at the Tomsk Artists' Society until 1917. In 1922, he joined the Association of Artists of Revolutionary Russia and exhibited in Moscow. He continued his artistic training in Paris between 1927 and 1935, exhibiting animal subjects in bronze and ceramics at the Salon d'Automne and the Salon des Indépendants. On his return to Moscow, he was appointed official artist.
