Marcel Bouraine (1886-1948) Pierrot Bronze with brown and polychrome patina Signed "Bouraine" on the terrace "Bouraine" on a brass cartouche attached to the front of the base H. 22.4 x terrace W. 38.5 x D. 10cm, on a sea-green marble base H. Total 28 x W. 41.8 x D. 14.2 cm After training with Alexandre Falguière and at the École des Beaux-Arts in Geneva, Marcel Bouraine turned to the decorative arts. He exhibited with the group La Stèle, created by Arthur Goldscheider. He tackled a variety of themes, from ancient mythology to animal subjects, as well as clowns and pierrots, such as our bronze candlestick in the Art Deco style.
