Philippe Grass (1801-1876) Left profile of a bearded man Oval bronze medallion with brown patina Signed and dated "P. GRASS / 1843" below the edge of the neck Bears the founder's mark "Eck et Durand" on the back. H. 14.5 x L. 12.5 cm This Alsatian joined the workshop of Baron François Joseph Bosio from 1822 to 1829. He exhibited at the Salon from 1831 to 1873. He produced a large number of portraits, both busts and medallions.
