HEBRARD" and the letter "M". H. 20 cm Provenance: Galerie du Carrousel, Paris; Galerie Delestre, Paris This figure of a seated man with his hand in his pocket could be a portrait of playwright Edouard Pailleron or sculptor Edouard Lindehener. In 1905, after Aimé-Jules Dalou's death, the sculptor's studio collection was acquired by the City of Paris and assigned to the Petit Palais. In 1907, a bronze edition of several plaster and terracotta models was commissioned from the Hébrard foundry. To the best of our knowledge, our print is the only one on record. The Hébrard foundry marked all one-of-a-kind pieces as "pièce unique", which is not the case with our bronze, which bears the letter "M", as do all the copies destined for the foundry.
