Luba statue, Democratic Republic of Congo Wood H. 39.5 cm Provenance : - Acquired from Hôtel Drouot in the 1990s - Private collection, France Interesting Luba statue depicting a busty figure with undulating arms, protruding navel, chest projected forward, framed by powerful shoulders. The entire sculpture is covered with an old, deep, oily patina. Two examples in the same style are reproduced in the exhibition catalog "Suintante", Adrian Schlag, 2015, p. 80-83.
