Bronze incense burner featuring a reclining shishi, the removable head forming a lid. The eyes were probably originally inlaid. L. 19 cm, H. 10 cm. Attached is a bronze okimono featuring a crab, with articulated legs (one leg and one eye missing). L. approx. 20 cm. Japan, Meiji period (1868-1912) for both. CHALLAYE (Félicien)-. ''Le Japon illustré''. Larousse, 1915, 677 photographic reproductions, 15 black maps and plans, etc. Dimensions: 32 x 24.5 cm. Enclosed is a collection of figures of Noh theater masks, kimonos, headdresses, weapons, etc. (Japan, dimensions: 22.5 x 15 cm).
