Georges Wasterlain (1889-1963) Portrait of a woman Bronze with red-brown patina Signed "WASTERLAIN" below right shoulder H. 32 cm, standing on a wooden base H. 8 cm Born into a modest Belgian family, Georges Wasterlain worked as a miner before embarking on a self-taught career as a painter and sculptor. Influenced by the social realism of Constantin Meunier, he created figures of workers, including a statue of a miner housed at Charleroi town hall.
