Marcel Gimond (1894 -1961) Portrait of Micheline Joets Circa 1940 Bronze with black shaded patina Signed "M.Gimond Bears the founder's stamp "cire perdue Bisceglia". Dim. 33 x 22 x 23 cm, on a base dim. 14.2 x 21.3 x 17 cm With this Tête de jeune femme, Marcel Gimond shows his attachment to figurative sculpture. He mainly created busts of famous people, politicians and artists. He pays particular attention to the physical and psychological study of his models. The balanced composition and expressive nature of this head reflects his search for reality and life. The sculptor drew inspiration from his own reflections on sculpture, his training at the École des Beaux-Arts de Lyon and his travels, during which he discovered the great sculptors of Antiquity and the Renaissance.
