Mazot, 1653 (at the end and 1651 at the title) - Small in-4, in full brown morocco (19th century), boards decorated in the Duseuil style, highly ornate ribbed spine, gilt edges - corners pierced, spidered bindings, piercing to 2 ff., edges frayed to 3 ff., soiling and scribbling to 5 ff. - 4 ff. blank, title frontispiece engraved by Collin, dispatch pasted to title, portrait of the Marquis de Chasteauneuf, engraved by Geÿn, notice to reader] 71 pp. illustrating the Mass, 29 pp. of litanies, psalms, hymns and antiphons adorned with portraits and biblical scenes, 1 p. privilege. The 71 pages illustrating the mass are divided into 2 parts, 35 pages illustrating the course of the service ("the priest approaches the altar" to "the priest gives the blessing"), the upper part of which is reserved for images of the Passion of Christ, and 36 pp. interspersed with orations in Latin and French adorned with 2 full-length representations of saints whose texts relate to the Passion images. Entirely engraved in intaglio, complete with 100 prints (Brunet V, 624).
