Armand Petersen (1891-1969) Hippopotamus Created between 1928 and 1937; published by the Manufacture de Sèvres between 1928 and 1955 Cookie Signed "A. F." on the underside. H. 11.5 x W. 21.8 x D. 9.8 cm For this Hippopotamus, Armand Petersen is said to have been inspired by an Egyptian blue ceramic figurine in the Musée du Louvre. The model was produced by the Manufacture de Sèvres between 1928 and 1955 in cookie and soft stoneware, glazed and crackled. It was also enlarged in 1937.
