Raoul Larche (1860-1912) The Yonne Terra cotta proof Signed "RAOUL LARCHE". Bears the circular stamp and publisher's mark "SUSSE FRES EDITEURS / PARIS". H. 45 x W. 82 x D. 35 cm This terracotta print features the figure of L'Yonne from the Miroir d'eau fountain, created by Raoul Larche and commissioned in 1909 by the Secretary of State for Fine Arts. At the 1910 Salon des Artistes français, the artist was awarded the Medal of Honor for his project. Intended for the Place du Carrousel and reworked after the First World War by sculptor Jean-Marie Mengue, the fountain representing the Seine and its tributaries was finally inaugurated in Square Jean-Perrin near the Grand Palais in 1926.
