Jean-Désiré Ringel d'Illzach (1847-1916) Portrait of a man Bronze medal with brown patina Signed "RINGEL" and dated "1869". Bearing an annotated label with the artist's biography Diam. 21.5 cm, in a wooden frame diam. 30 cm Jean-Désiré Ringel d'Illzach, a student of Alexandre Falguière at the École des Beaux-Arts, exhibited from 1873 to 1889 at the Salon des artistes français, where he presented numerous bust and medallion portraits. His work as a medallist was particularly appreciated by the public, and he received commissions from the magazine L'Art et de l'État, which made his reputation.
