Profile of Christ
Bronze relief with light-brown patina
H 34 cm
The original model of this profile, a counterpart to the profile of the Virgin, dates from 1691. These works were created to adorn the marble high altar designed by sculptor Girardon for the church of Saint Jean au Marché in Troyes. As early as 1692, the sculptor created a second version of the two medallions with the profiles of the Virgin and her Son to adorn the altar of the Holy Ciborium in the same church. The master-au- tel's works were then cast in terracotta in 1707 to adorn the church of Saint Nicolas in Troyes.
