Manufacture de Virebent, Toulouse, 19th century Architectural elements Renaissance couple in conversation Pair of arched high reliefs in patinated terra cotta Bearing the "VIREBENT" mark H. 36.5 x L. 68.7 cm Between 1830 and 1878, under the direction of Auguste Virebent (1792-1857), the Manufacture Virebent created the sculpted decor for many of Toulouse's facades. Thanks to collaboration with sculptors and the development of a new technical process for the creation of terracotta bricks, enabling serial production, the factory produced a large body of models inspired by ancient, medieval and Renaissance canons.
