Manufacture d'AUBUSSON Important wool and silk tapestry decorated with a scene from the story of Agamemnon, Greek king during the Trojan War. "The victorious Agamemnon, Greek king, takes the spoils from his warriors and distributes them to himself. This is a passage from the story of the Trojan War. He is depicted in the center surrounded by his generals and warriors in polychrome. Fortifications can be seen in the background. The border is enlivened by garlands of stylized multicolored flower sprays and a woman on a horse-drawn chariot (Briseis was the queen of the city of Lyrnessos, kidnapped during the Trojan War by Achilles and subsequently taken from Achilles by Agamemnon).
