MAROTTE Kebe Kebe Kuyu, Democratic Republic of the Congo Medium-hard wood with brown patina, kaolin, pigments, accidents. Kebe kebe marotte brandished during djo festivities, or snake worship. It features a face characteristic of the style, with almond-shaped eyes carved in a slight relief on either side of a schematic nose. The mouth, of the same elongated shape as the eyes, opens onto partially pointed teeth. The headdress, streaked with fine locks, is made of a double chignon. Very old. H. 53 cm
