Igor Balarin (born 1945) Standing figure Bronze with brown patina Unsigned 54.5 x 20 x 12 cm A Peruvian-born sculptor, Balarín first studied architecture at the University of Valparaiso in Chile. He then went on to study sculpture in the workshop of Argentinean Carlos de la Carcova. Balarín works in metal, favoring dynamic, slender forms with silhouettes evocative of man and animal. Active in France from 1968, Balarín took part in numerous group exhibitions, including the Mostra del Futurismo Italiano (1971). He also exhibited his work in solo shows, notably at the Galerie Rive Gauche in Paris (1969), the Galerie Yvon Lambert in Paris (1970) and the North American Cultural Institute in Lima, Peru (1974).
