Frederic Arthur BRIDGMAN (1847-1928) The Egyptian Procession, circa 1876-1879 Oil on canvas. Signed lower left. 50 x 39.4 cm PROVENANCE: private collection, Paris; sale 06/11/2014, Sotheby's, New York. Bridgman, in the 1870s, was particularly interested in the ancient period. The figure of the priest in the foreground is common to several of his works. We find this character in The Funeral of a Mummy, exhibited at the 1877 Salon, and The Procession of the Sacred Bull, exhibited at the 1879 Salon.
