By M.*** Paris, Jean-François Bastien, 1776. 2 volumes in-12, same binding - [2 ff.], xvj, 653 pp., [1 p.], [1 f.] ; [4 ff.], 716 pp., [1 f.]. Original editions. In 1767, the readers having made a great success of Bertoux's Anecdotes françaises, appeared between 1769 and 1778 several works which took again the same formula, namely the gathering of short anecdotes or particular facts more or less remarkable. For the Arab and African Anecdotes, the authors did abundant research, and the well-documented volumes are also interesting because of the prejudices that Europeans had about the Muslim religion as well as about the African kingdoms.
