CORBIÈRE (Tristan). Les Amours jaunes, Paris, Glady Frères, 1873. In-8, title page, frontispiece engraving, blank page, title, [2] ff. - 345 pp. - 1] f., covers preserved (here fragile, often missing in the preserved copies), copy on Hollande (not numbered: copy called "chapel" or "pass" not numbered?). Bound in half lemon morocco with corners, marbled paper boards, spine with 5 nerves decorated with gilt fleurons, gilt lettering, date at the end of the spine, comb paper lining and endpapers, gilt head. First edition. Self-portrait drawn and etched by the poet in frontispiece. Les Amours jaunes will be the only collection of poetry of Tristan Corbière, "cursed poet". Published in 1873 by Glady frères, publishers in Paris, it includes almost all of his work in verse, that is to say 101 poems of various sizes and forms. The printing, in 490 copies, is paid by the father of the poet, dedicatee of the work. The work appeared two years before the death of the poet at the age of 29 years. Tristan Corbière passed unnoticed until 1884 when Verlaine made him appear among his "Poètes maudits", beside Rimbaud and Mallarmé. Clouzot, 75; Lhermitte, 177.
