A l'Ecole d'Etat Major. Rue de Grenelle St Germain]. Baudelaire writes: "My dear little Mother, I am a little indisposed and cannot go anywhere for dinner, not even to your house. You can guess how much it pains me. I kiss you several times for compensation. C. Baudelaire". Baudelaire had interrupted his trip to Calcutta, where his father-in-law Mr. Aupick had arranged to send him away from Paris, deciding to return to France. He landed in Bordeaux on February 16, 1842. This letter dates from a few months after his return to Paris. This dating was made possible thanks to the research of Mr. Mario Mordente, expert in postmarks and philately.
