Bound in red half-chagrin, spine with 4 nerves partitioned and decorated with flowers, gilt lettering, in the tail of the spine: " Bibliothèque du Château de Marchais " (interior foxing; some scratches to the binding; some rubbing to the leather of the binding). Contains seven short stories: Carmen. - Arsène Guillot. - L'abbé Aubain. - The Queen of Spades. - The Bohemians. - The Hussar. - Nicolas Gogol. Partly first edition. Provenance: 1. Ex-libris pasted on the upper spine: " Château des Grotteaux ". - 2. Library of the Château de Marchais, according to the lettering on the back cover. The Château de Marchais (Aisne) has been owned by the Grimaldis for over a century.
