Manuscript collection of duplicate letters sent by Cadéot, J.-B., ordinator of the Navy in Senegal, mainly to the director of the colonies. Small ruled notebook in-folio, bound in full tan squared morocco, with the boards decorated with a large lace of framing, smooth spine mute - spine and spines damaged, stain on the boards - 109 ff. handwritten recto-verso - 43 ampliations of letters written from 5/02/1832 until 31/10/1834 mainly to M. de Saint-Hilaire, state councillor, director of the colonies (34 letters, 3 in 1832, 14 in 1833, 17 in 1834), to M. Gerbidon, deputy director of the colonies (1 in 1832), to his friend M. Taboureau (1 in 1833, 3 in 1834), to Admiral Jacob (1 in 1833), to Mr. Jubelin (1 in 1834) to Quernel, former governor of Senegal (1 in 1834), to Mr. Foullon d'Écottier, intendant of the colonies (1 in 1834). All of these letters give us an administrative, historical and political overview of the events that marked this period which saw the revolt of the Moors and their pacification. Cadéot, Jean-Baptiste Bertrand Armand (1795-1845), a French colonial administrator, took up the post of Naval Authorizing Officer in the colony of Senegal on August 26, 1831 and was appointed Deputy Naval Commissioner of the 1st class on January 1, 1833. After the death of the governor of Senegal, Thomas Renault de Saint-Germain, he assumed the functions of acting governor for a few weeks, from October 18, 1833 until the arrival of Commander Quernel on November 15, 1833, who became governor while waiting for the appointment of Pujol to this position in February 1834, and then of Malavois, appointed on April 9, 1835. He left his functions in Senegal on 17/04/1835, to be appointed to Guadeloupe where he was named commissioner of the Navy 2nd class (24/05/1839). He moved to Cayenne as commissioner of Guyana (18/12/1839) where he was promoted to commissioner of 1st class (17/02/1843). Appointed acting Governor of Guyana (20/10/1845 - 18/02/1846), he resumed his duties as commissioner until his retirement in 1848.
