Menus of liners 19th century. - Set of 40 first class menus illustrated in colors of the Messageries Maritimes of the year 1899: Paquebot Saghalien : 7 menus of which 5 with different drawings from 22/10 to 31/10/1899. Liner Orinoco : 17 menus among which 8 with different drawings from 06/11 to 19/11/1899. Liner Senegal: 16 menus including 12 with different drawings from 11/11/1899 and from 19/11 to 28/11/1899. Nearly the half of these menus present defects of aspect (spots, freckles, dusting, or tear). - 13 menus (of which 9 different) present animals ensuring with humour the service (giraffe, lion, chimpanzee, kangaroo, dromedary, elephant, bear, rhinoceros, ostrich); - 17 menus (3 of which are different) feature a Japanese decor. - 6 menus evoke stopovers (Egypt, North Africa, Turkey). - 1 menu represents the kitchens of an ocean liner, 1 is illustrated with exotic birds and 2 identical ones have a plate design representing an ocean liner on a decorated background
