Nicolay, Nicolas de. - The first four books of the navigations and oriental peregrinations, by N. de Nicolay du Dauphiné. Lyon, Guillaume Rouille, 1562. In-4, bound in full vellum (browned). Incomplete copy of 44 pages of text (23 first pages and 21 last pages) and 9 engravings of portraits of characters (pp. 19, More from Algiers - 28, woman from Malta - 103, Turkish cook - 107, Greek villager - 141, slave More - 156, Ragusian merchant - 156 bis, letter carrier from Ragusa - 160, Jewish woman from Andrinople - 180, Greek villager). The present portraits, with the exception of 26 of them, obviously come from another copy of slightly smaller format but of a better edition; 3 plates are torn, one of which is missing a third of a page. Most of the plates have frayed edges.
