Eusebius [Eusebius, Pamphile] - De Evangelica preparatione, a Georgio Trapezuntio e graeco in latinum traductus... Haguenau, Henri Gran, 1522. Scientific editor, Joannis Rynman. Small in-4, contemporary binding in full brown calf on partly bevelled edges, boards stamped with a double frame with floral motifs and in the center a double lozenge with the same motifs and spandrels with 4 large blooming flowers. Dumb spine with 4 nerves - spine and corners rebacked, strong epidermal marks on the boards having led to the loss of many embossed motifs - Text well preserved and complete. Collation: a8, b-c4, d8, e-f4, g8, h-i4, k8, l-m4, n8, o-p4, q8, r-s4, t8, v-x4, y8, z-A4, B8, C-D4, E8, F-G4, H8, I4, K6 (K5 blank). Title with large woodcut frame, featuring the publisher's mark "H G". This text is here translated by George of Trebizond (1396-1486). Eusebius (265-339) was a historian and polemicist close to Emperor Constantine I, author of numerous historical, apologetic, biblical and exegetical works. He is considered as the father of ecclesiastical history and essential for the knowledge of the first three centuries of Christian history. Copy that can be compared to n° 372 of the Bérès sale (17/12/2007), which, published at the same date by the same publisher, contained only 170ff. against 178 ff. for this one.
