Berthe Martinie (1883-1958) Foal Stoneware of Sèvres Bears the artist's signature stamp "MARTINIE" on the terrace Bears the stamp " SEVRES Manufacture Nationale France " and the initials " GT " and " AR ". H. 22 x W. 16 x D. 8,5 cm Trained in Ferdinand Humbert's studio since 1906 and wife of art critic Henri Martinie from 1913, Berthe Martinie frequented the sculptors Robert Wlerick and Jean Carton. In 1925, the Weil gallery gave her her first exhibition. At the end of the 1920s she devoted herself exclusively to sculpture, of which animal subjects were her predilection. She participated in numerous Salons (Salons d'Automne and des Tuileries) as well as the 1937 World's Fair.
