Vigoureux " on the lower right H. 100 cm Small chips Provenance : Artist's studio; by descent Introduced to woodcarving in his father's workshop and supported by Jean Dampt and Georges Loi-seau-Bailly, Pierre Vigoureux entered the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris in 1902. He participated regularly in the Salon des Artistes français from 1906 to 1919, as well as in the Salons d'Automne and des Tuileries. He created many monuments to the dead during the interwar period. Later he designed a series of small works in polychrome stone on the theme of rural work and genre scenes in the taste of Provençal santons, currently preserved in the Museum of Burgundian life in Dijon.
