PASCALINE, SENNELIER house - Lot 192
PASCALINE, SENNELIER house Carved softwood, and fully articulated. Beginning of the 20th century. Some missing parts (shoulder, fingers, foot). H. 160 cm At the beginning of the 15th century, the Florentine sculptor Filacete (1406-1469) recommended the use of a wooden mannequin with articulated limbs to learn how to draw draperies. These figures were articulated from the 17th century onwards with a very fine execution. They came from Germany and Austria. At the end of the 18th century, Paris became the center for the manufacture of these "perfected" mannequins. Pascal and Pascaline were the couple of painter's mannequins emblematic of the Sennelier house at the beginning of the 20th century.
